A Book, A Note and Tamarind Balls
I love to read and I particularly enjoy books written by Caribbean authors or authors from the Diaspora. Recently, I had the pleasure of reading Somerset Grove by Dionne Peart with the ladies of the Caribbean Book Club.
I knew I was in for a treat when my copy of the book arrived complete with Tamarind Balls and a hand written note from the author, Dionne Peart.
Somerset Grove is about three generations of the women in the Wright family all dream of leaving their home in a small Jamaican town, but each woman encounters obstacles that keep her from living the life she wants.
Eva Wilson of Socamom.com coordinated the gathering via Google Hangout complete with a trailer.

You can check out the entire book discussion with the Author, Dionne Peart on YouTube. While the ladies gave their thoughts on the book, Eva was busy tweeting. Here are some of the tweets:

I enjoyed reading Somerset Grove. The characters are relatable and you can recognize them either in our own families or in the families of others.
