What We’ve Been Watching

Cross (Amazon Prime)
This reboot of the iconic black detective series brought us gripping action and sharp forensic psychology. Aldis Hodge’s portrayal is stellar, blending brains with intensity, and the first 10 minutes had us hooked. If you’re a fan of mysteries with twists and turns, this one’s for you.
- The Legacy of Alex Cross in Film
  - The character Alex Cross, created by James Patterson in his bestselling novels, made his big-screen debut in the late 1990s and early 2000s with two critically acclaimed films:
- Kiss the Girls (1997) – Morgan Freeman portrays Alex Cross.
- Along Came a Spider (2001) – A sequel to Kiss the Girls, this film sees Freeman reprising the role as Alex Cross.
- Alex Cross (2012) – Tyler Perry took on the role of Alex Cross.
The Martha Stewart Documentary (Netflix)
Martha’s journey from homemaker to business mogul and her controversial insider trading case make for an intriguing watch. Plus, her rebranding with Snoop Dogg is a masterclass in staying relevant!
Dune: Prophecy (HBO Max)
Sci-fi fans, rejoice! This spin-off focuses on the enigmatic Bene Gesserit women and their unique powers. It’s a must-watch for fans of the Dune universe.
The Madness (Netflix)
Suspense and intrigue are front and center in this series featuring Domingo. From gripping twists to powerful performances, it’s the perfect binge-watch for thriller lovers. But what makes this series even more special for us at Reels & Riddims is the Jamaican heritage that shines through, thanks to both its lead actress, Marsha Stephanie Blake who plays Domingo’s ex-wife and Clement Virgo who is a director and producer of the series. Both Marsha and Clement are part of Brother, a movie we recently reviewed.
